Linear Motion

Back to Exhibits

Linear Motion is a kinetic sculpture that consists of an array of curved, reflective panels, mounted on pendulum arms and suspended from a beam on the exterior wall.  Each reflective panel is perfectly balanced by a motor-driven counterweight. When you trigger the counterweight, a dramatic pendulum motion occurs…the sculpture literally “bows” to you before reaching back toward the sky. Each of the 18 panels has a separate trigger and the sculpture has an infinite variety of patterns.

This giant gift to the community was made possible by a generous grant from The Joseph S. Bruno Foundation. Special thanks to Motion Industries and O'Neal Steel.
