McWane Science Center counts on the Café Foodie to support the daily operations of the café and related special events by assisting with the preparation, presentation, sales and cleanliness of the department while providing excellent customer service.

Controller (Full-Time)
McWane Science Center seeks a Controller to oversee the financial affairs of the organization with integrity, accuracy and excellence so that sound decisions can be made in a timely manner. The Controller is responsible for participating in the daily operating procedures within the Accounting department as well as the strategic business and financial management of McWane Science Center and its Endowment. Accountabilities and major duties include preparing financial statements, operating and capital budgets and tax reports; preparing general ledger and month-end as well as consolidated financial statements; reviewing and maintaining corporate contracts; supervising Accounting and Information Technology staff and working closely with the Human Resources department; coordinating the administration of the Corporation’s insurance coverage, payroll and employee benefits; establishing and maintaining effective business relationships internally as well as with vendors and the community at large; serving as staff liaison to the Board Committees and the Endowment; preparing and delivering written and verbal financial reports to Boards and Committees; and maintaining a high level of leadership and professionalism.

Retail Store Associate (Full-Time)
McWane Science Center counts on the Retail Store Associate to support the daily operations of the retail store, Really Cool Stuff, by providing excellent customer service and a clean, relaxed shopping environment for all customers and guests. Major duties include assisting in maintaining a clean, relaxed and friendly shopping environment; assisting with all product check-in while maintaining an accurate inventory; maintaining a clean, neat visual presentation of all mentioned product; greeting all customers with sincerity and enthusiasm and offering to assist all customers with extensive product knowledge and a friendly attitude; completing all visitor transactions accurately and in a timely manner; following all opening/closing procedures as directed by supervisory staff; answering all incoming calls and guest inquires with a positive attitude; assisting in maintaining store cleanliness and merchandising of products; and maintaining a high level of professionalism in performing assigned duties and tasks in representing McWane Science Center.

Reservations Specialist (Full-Time)
McWane Science Center counts on the Reservations Specialist to be an enthusiastic and knowledgeable first impression of McWane Science Center by assisting guests (including group leaders) via telephone, fax and e-mail in planning and booking their visits by providing accurate information about all exhibits, events, IMAX films, memberships and other activities in the center.

Environmental Services Specialist (Part-Time/Evenings)
McWane Science Center counts on the Environmental Services Specialist to provide cleaning and sanitation services to McWane Science Center facilities in order to present a clean and safe environment. Specialist will perform light and heavy cleaning services that support daily operations in a cheerful attentive manner. When directed to do so, this position will assist the Environmental Services Manager and the Building Managers with the safety and security of the Center, its visitors and staff. The position will also assist in all other departments as needed. Additional hours and schedule shifts may/will be required to meet the needs of the Center.

McWane Science Center counts on the Café Associate to provide the café with organizational and operational support and ensure the café meets sales, cleanliness and budgetary goals all while providing excellent customer service. Educator (part-time up to 28 hours per week)
McWane Science Center counts on the Part-time Educator to engage visitors in programs, classes, demonstrations, and activities in an enthusiastic, accurate, and interactive manner. Interactions must be left open to meet the needs and interests of the particular group of visitors being served at a given time. Additionally the Educator develops and implements home school labs and summer and holiday camp programming that emphasizes interactive science learning that campers enjoy and parents value.

McWane Science Center counts on the Summer Outreach Presenter to present McWane Science Center’s reserved programs/demonstrations across the state of Alabama. This position requires the ability to travel to different locations across the state to provide high-quality educational presentations to audiences at libraries, schools and other venues. Accountabilities and major duties: lead educational presentations (shows, demonstrations, classroom presentations); answer questions about presentations; prepare for and clean-up supplies for programs; ensure all supplies and equipment are in stock and are in working order; and always present a high level of professionalism when carrying out assigned duties and responsibilities.
