McWane Center Exhibits Graphic Design Intern

Position Description
The primary responsibility for this intern position will be large format output and finishing including file preparation, printing, mounting and lamination. Opportunities for participation in design projects will be based on individual’s abilities and skill level.

Hours
12 - 20 per week

Qualifications
• Experience with Mac and/or PC platform
• Basic knowledge of one or more of the following graphic design applications: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and/or Procreate Painter with knowledge of 3D, CAD and/or Multimedia applications being a plus
• Attention to detail
• Desire and ability to learn
• Good attitude
• Good communication skills
• Creativity

Compensation
Although this is an unpaid internship, the participant can realize the following benefits:
• job experience in graphic design work flow
• experience with computer and graphic design applications

Member Services Intern

Hours Per Week:  20
Unpaid Internship:  Yes
Class Credit:  Yes

Description:  Intern will support all efforts of McWane Science Center’s Marketing and Membership Departments by assisting with membership services, data entry and database management, membership processing, mailings, phone and on-site sales, member special events and other duties as assigned.  Prefer a candidate currently pursuing a major in business management and/or marketing.

  Clay Shannon, Director of Member Services
Accountabilities and Major Duties

 Assist in processing of memberships, including database administration,
 Assemble and mail membership packets and renewal notices
 Maintain filing systems.
 Assist in membership solicitation campaigns including on-site sales
 Assists in the planning and execution of membership special events
 Ensure that all members receive customized service.

Note:
This position is highly versatile and can require a great deal of multi-tasking. Candidate should work well under deadline, be proactive, dependable, thorough and display self-motivation and professionalism in all areas of work. Some weekend and after-hours work required.

McWane Science Center Aquarist Intern Position

Job Description
The primary responsibility for this intern position will be assisting the aquarists in maintenance of fresh and saltwater fish, invertebrate, and reptile species and the systems these animals inhabit.  The intern will learn daily, weekly, and monthly husbandry duties required to keep these animals alive and exhibits looking great. 
 Some of the tasks that will be asked of the intern are, but not limited to the following.  Daily and weekly diet preparation for animal collection.  Running system chemistries.  Cleaning the glass, walls, and inserts of the systems.  Monitoring fish behaviors.  Helping to administer medications when needed.  Helping in the maintenance of the systems (floss changes, cleaning of equipment, and water changes).  Assisting in the addition and/or removal of animals from exhibits.  Assisting in handling of fish, invertebrate, and reptile species.   

Hours
• 12-15 hours/week (mornings preferable) during the school year
• 30 hours/week during the summer for 3 months

• Willingness to be wet and dirty on a daily basis
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand, stoop, or kneel for extended periods of time

• Basic computer skills (word, excel, etc.)
• Creativity

• Experience with chemistry related to an aquarium setting
