ScienceQuest
Containing 9,000+ square feet of interactive exhibits, ScienceQuest is the place to experiment with the building blocks of science. Recline on a bed of nails, launch a tennis ball high into the air, play a laser harp, and experience over 50 other amazing exhibits. There is something to learn everywhere you turn.
Specially designed to encourage minds five years old and younger, Just Mice Size is a fantasy environment ten times larger than usual. Crayons form a picket fence! Is that a ten foot-tall milk carton? That soda bottle is big enough to be a bus! Little ones can spend hours climbing our huge indoor Mouse House or splashing around at the water table. Use the Just Mice Size Wonderlab to stage a costume play or take a few moments to read a book. There’s so much to see, and it’s all on the eye-level of your kindergarten-aged child.
For all aspiring Franklins and Edisons, McWane Science Center offers the Inventor’s Garage. Full of cool tools for building and experimenting, the Garage let’s you see how tall you can build a tower and how crazy you can make a chaos-machine. Special weekend programs allow visitors to create real woodworking projects. See the Events Calendar for a schedule of special classes and come prepared to experiment.
For the energetic, there’s nothing quite like playing at McWane Science Center’s Virtual Reality Sports. It’s not just playing volleyball with a computer—it’s playing inside the computer, against a robot who’s bound and determined to see you lose. There are also challenging soccer games and a swim through the deep, shark-infested seas. See how you compare to your companions. With luck, you’ll end up in our hall of fame!
The Rushton Science Theater will dazzle you! See huge bursts of flame and learn all about fire in our Combustion program. See your own hair stand on end before you’re astounded by a millions-volt lightning bolt inside the museum in our Lightning Strikes! show.
