McWane Science Center's Teacher workshops are from 8:00 am­ - 3:00 pm.  Cost is $50.00 per session or save money by registering for four workshops for only $175.00.  The workshop cost includes workshop materials, curriculum packet, lunch provided, parking in McWane Science Center's parking deck and admission to Adventure Halls.  Participants will receive a Professional Development certificate from the Alabama Regional In-service Center for 6 hours of Professional Development for each workshop. Science Smorgasboard Teacher Workshop, January 28
Chemistry, physics and more!  Designed for K­8th grade educators, this workshop will provide you with a wide variety of inexpensive inquiry based science activities and demonstrations to engage your students and reinforce science content standards in the classroom ­ all on a minimal budget.


Exploring ALšs Natural History Teacher Workshop, February 12
Alabama has a rich fossil history.  Learn more about Alabamašs ancient history and how to integrate it into your classroom in this workshop designed for K­8th grade educators.  Participants will gain valuable insight into our rich history and learn how to get students excited about fossils.



Learning by Inquiry Teacher Workshop, February 26
This is not your traditional inquiry workshop.  Designed for K­8th grade educators, this workshop will prove the effectiveness of learning by inquiry. Participants will spend the day investigating a selection of McWane Science Centeršs exhibits via inquiry.  Educators will also get great ideas for implementing inquiry in the classroom.  Come ready to learn!


Environmental Science Education, May 5
Designed for 3rd­8th grade educators will learn about how to test water quality, surface ozone and soil as well as their relevance in our everyday lives.  Part of the session will include the presentation of online resources that support environmental science education & low-cost alternatives to expensive equipment.
