McWane Science Center Needs Your Help!
VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
 As a volunteer at Alabama's state-of-the-art science center and largest IMAX® Dome Theater, discovery, exploration, creativity, learning and FUN await you. Plunge into the World of Water and help a senior group learn about more than 50 species of saltwater life; explore the mysteries of space with a school group in Challenger Learning Center Alabama; educate a young inventor with the building blocks of science in ScienceQuest; and welcome a family to the IMAX® Dome Theater where larger-than-life images and amazing sound engulf them. Whether your interest is in learning and discovery or service and assistance, you are sure to find exciting challenges and rewarding adventures as a McWane Science Center volunteer.
In appreciation for the vital work our interns and volunteers perform, McWane Science Center extends valuable benefits including: free parking while on duty, references and academic credit, recognition events, our quarterly newsletter, Eureka!, membership discounts and discounts in the museum store and café.
Are You Eligible?
 McWane Science Center accepts volunteers ages 14 and up or upon completion of the 8th grade. Admission to the program is by application and interview. McWane Science Center seeks and values diversity in its volunteer staff.

DOCENT PROGRAM
Docents at McWane Science Center are trained volunteers whose major responsibility is in presenting educational information to the public. This can be done in a variety of ways including exhibit interpretation, presenting interpretative programs, or being stationed at a cart or exhibit. Docents will play a major roll in helping the public gain a better understanding about science and the world around them.
Docents are adults from all walks of life, ages, and educational backgrounds with a passion for life-long learning.
