Brain Awareness Week

March 26 - March 30

Adventure Hall Programming

Sheep Brain Dissection

Ever seen a brain or held one in your own hands? Join us for a fun activity in which we’ll poke, prod, and cut open a real brain! We’ll learn about the computer in your head that helps you eat, sleep, play, and remember to do your homework.

Cow Eye Ball Dissection

Ever wanted to know what the inside of an eye looks like? Come cut up a cow eye in this fun hands-on and interactive activity and learn about inner eye anatomy and how connects to brain! There will be tables where children and their parents will observe/help dissect cow eyeballs.

Sensation Station

What happens when our eyes play tricks on us? Are you a super-taster? How do our hands feel the objects that we touch? Come explore the answers to these questions and learn about how the human brain controls the senses! We’ll also learn about how to protect our brains so that we can continue to sense the world around us throughout our lives.

Noisy Neurons

Come learn about action potentials and how neurons communicate! Parents and children can observe demonstrations of incoming and outgoing neuronal signals using the spiker box and electrophysiology recordings from cockroach legs. There will also be demonstrations using a human to human interface!
