McWane Science Center is closely monitoring orders from local and state leaders, health departments and CDC guidelines regarding our summer camps. For the health and safety of our campers and staff, we have altered some of our policies and procedures. Please read this page carefully for these updates.

McWane Science Center offers 6 weeks of summer fun and learning! Bring your curiosity and sense of wonder for hands-on, minds-on, science and fun this summer! Summer camps offer further inquiry into science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) topics for children 6 to 13 years old. Campers can learn about the deep oceans, journey into outer space, build robots or spend time with our McWane animals. Join us for these and many more engaging camp themes.

Weekly Camp Descriptions by Grade Level

1st – 2nd Grade

3rd – 4th Grade Camps

5th – 7th Grade Camps

4th – 8th Grade — Sci Girls

Campers should register for the grade they’ll be attending in the fall of 2020. Each of our camps is designed for the skill level of that camp, therefore, grade levels must be observed. Registrants may attend only those camps for which they are registered. Registrations are not transferable. Registration closes the Monday prior to the first day of camp.

Enrollment is limited to ensure a quality experience. In order to maintain this quality of learning and fun, we will offer two simultaneous 1st-2nd grade camps every week. Camp themes and activities will be identical for each classroom. Same-classroom requests will be guaranteed for siblings only. All other requests will be considered based on availability. Requests may be made to

Please see the Online Registration FAQs if you need help with registration.

Children with a high risk for health problems should consider not attending camps. Please refer to these CDC guidelines

Campers will be required to wear a face mask when they arrive, when they’re on the museum floor and when they leave for the day. Once seated in their classrooms and sitting six feet apart, masks may be removed for camp activities. Please make sure your child has practiced wearing a mask before camps begin.

Frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned and sanitized often throughout the day.

All of our campers, staff and volunteers will practice social distancing, proper hand washing, and cough/sneeze etiquette. Please practice these activities at home so that children understand their necessity.

Health and wellness will be checked regularly each day. If a camper becomes ill, the parent will be called to pick them up.

Drop off will be curbside this year on Level C of the parking deck. Walk up drop off will not be permitted. Parents will confirm child wellness and campers will have temperatures checked with no-touch thermometers, before exiting the vehicle. Campers will be escorted to their classrooms by staff and volunteers. The exit gate will remain open, so a token will not be needed. Parents will receive two color-coded and numbered cards on Mondays to be used for pickup during the week.

Pick up will also take place on Level C of the parking deck. Please place the pickup card on the passenger side window so that staff can call for your child.

Each camp will include the same children and educators for the entire week, creating a class bubble. To maintain this “bubble,” they will not participate in activities with other classes. Each camper will have a bag of general supplies to use for the week to prevent sharing with other children. Campers will still enjoy learning on the exhibit floors but will not mix with other groups. When eating lunch, campers will maintain social distancing and will remain separated from children in other camps.

Camps begin at 9:00am and end at 4:00pm. Please make every effort to have your camper signed in by 8:55am. Campers can be picked up as early as 4:00pm, and no later than 5:30 pm. There will be a $5 late fee for every 10 minutes your camper stays after pick-up time.

Full payment is due at time of registration.

1st-8th grade Full-day camps are $335 per week/Members discount is $285 (tax is included)

McWane Science Center reserves the right to cancel camps that do not meet minimum enrollment. If a camp is cancelled by McWane Science Center, a full refund will be returned to the registrant. If a registrant cancels a camp, a 50% refund will be made if the registrant notifies the Camp program in writing, which is emailed, postmarked, or faxed no later than 10 working days prior to the camp. Otherwise, NO REFUNDS, will be made. There is a $35 service charge for any returned checks and enrollment will be automatically cancelled.

Before Care is available from 7:45am-9:00am and After Care is available from 4:00pm-5:30pm. Both are included in camp registration. Campers will remain in their classrooms during before and after care.

If you arrive after drop off, or need to pick your child up early, please proceed to the ticketing counter, and they will call a camp representative. Please remain in the lobby until your child is signed in or out. There is no early pick-up/drop-off between 11:45 to 12:00 and 3:45 to 4:00. This is a transition time for campers and staff, so please plan accordingly.

Late Arrival

A camp representative will meet you in the lobby to take your child to camp. Campers and parents will need to wear their face mask upon entering.

Early Pick Up

Provide the child’s name and age group/camp name to ticketing staff. A camp representative will escort your child to the lobby. You will need to present the color-coded/numbered card or a valid ID to sign out your child. Please remain in the lobby until your child is brought to you.

Lunch and snacks are included with all camps. Lunch is served between 12:00pm-12:30pm. Our menu is an attempt to avoid most common food allergies. If you have additional dietary concerns you may send a snack/lunch with your camper (however we do not provide refrigeration or microwave capabilities). Packed lunches should not include peanuts or peanut butter. No refund or discount will be given for these days. PLEASE LET US KNOW ABOUT ALL ALLERGIES ON THE MEDICAL RELEASE FORM.
