We are excited to welcome you back to McWane Science Center. Your health and safety remain our top priority. Since closing our doors in March, we have followed the science to modify our operations, adopting new safety measures to ensure the health and well-being of our staff and visitors. Our reopening is based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and consultation with top medical experts. Some things have changed. Interactive exhibits that could pose an unacceptable risk remain closed, but most of our exciting science adventures are ready for you to explore. Itty Bitty Magic City, the magical science world for preschoolers is temporarily closed, but the little ones are welcome to enjoy the other wonders of McWane.
As of December 9, 2020, all visitors ages three (3) and older are required to wear a mask or other approved face covering. All staff, volunteers, and vendors are also required to wear approved face coverings.
We are following social distancing guidelines throughout the facility. Visitor groups must maintain a 6-foot distance from other groups. Children interacting on the exhibits must maintain a 6-foot distance from each other.
We have implemented enhanced cleaning protocols throughout the property and, in addition, disinfect frequently touched surfaces throughout the day.
Hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the facility and visitors are encouraged to use them. Our restrooms are cleaned and restocked with soap, and hand sanitizer several times daily.
We have limited the number of visitors allowed on premises at one time to half during this period of enhanced safety protocols. Our electronic attendance system tracks entry and exits so we are able to monitor attendance in real time.
McWane Science Center has blocked off seating to support social distancing and to decrease capacity to less than 50%.
The theater will also be completely cleaned and sanitized following every showing.
McWane employees circulate throughout the premises to ensure social distancing measures and other safety protocols are followed. If you have any questions or concerns about safety or other matters, any McWane employee is happy to help.
